Costa Rica Global Learning Programs (GLP) is a provider of customized study abroad programs and internships in Costa Rica. They are dedicated to customizing reliable and authentic programs that leave a positive and transformative impact on program participants and local communities. Since being founded in 2019, they have hosted over 350 students from around the world through both in-person and virtual programs and have established partnerships with more than 20 institutions globally for future programs.

Program Details

Cohort start dates:

  • Fall: September - December
  • Winter: January - April
  • Summer: May-July, June-August

Who can apply?

All faculties are eligible to apply.

Third party internship providers work to match you with a placement directly aligned with your skills, interests, and desired goals/outcomes across a variety of countries and industries. Students from any and all faculties are eligible to apply with [CR GLP].

Virtual Program Fees

Fees of $100 USD per week are required and paid to the internship provider directly covering:

  • Cultural activities

Funding eligibility

GSO-Logo_ENG-Blue.pngCosta Rica Global Learning Programs is part of Canada's Global Skills Opportunity (GSO) program. Financial support of either $500 or $1,000 is available to support students participating in virtual international internship placements. Applicants and virtual placements must meet all GSO eligibility criteria; placement criteria varies* across programs.

Applicants must be:

    • A Canadian citizen or permanent resident
    • An undergraduate student
    • Registered with any faculty* at main campus**
      • *Inclusive of affiliate students officially registered with a main campus faculty
      • **Inclusive of second-entry programs
    • At least 18 years old
    • In good academic standing
    • Applicants must NOT have previously received GSO funding

Program specific requirements:

  • The program must be at least six weeks long.
