Mid-May landspouts at Clear Lake and Three Hills, AB

NTP investigations have confirmed mid-May landspout tornadoes at Clear Lake and Three Hills, AB. The landspout tornado at Clear Lake (Carmangay) developed during the afternoon of May 19, with the second landspout tornado at Three Hills having developed during the afternoon of May 21. There were no injuries with either tornado, and since no damage was reported or found through satellite imagery analysis both tornadoes have been assigned a default rating of EF0.

Start Time: 12:40 PM MDT (1840Z)

Final Classification: Tornado (Over Land)

Final EF-Scale Rating: EF0-Default

Estimated tornado location: 51.69N, 113.35W

Description: Witness captured photos of a brief landspout tornado west of Three Hills. No injuries were reported. As no damage was reported and satellite imagery review revealed no visible damage, the EF-scale assessment is default EF0. Information available insufficient to accurately estimate track length, max. path width and tornado motion.
