Two EF2 tornadoes near AB-SK border on July 8
The NTP has confirmed two EF2 tornadoes near the Alberta-Saskatchewan border on July 8. The first tornado affected the Prospect Valley area (event initially named Paradise Valley) and caused damage to a manufactured home, vehicles, grain bins and trees. The second tornado hit Dillberry Lake Provincial Park as it moved from AB to SK, causing significant tree damage, damage to structures, and trailers and boats to be tossed. There were also five injuries at the campground.

Description: Witnesses captured video and photos of a tornado that developed northwest of Propsect Valley (south of Paradise Valley). Damage to trees and two residential properties, including a destroyed mobile home, damaged shop and vehicles was reported. No injuries were reported. An NTP ground and drone survey was completed on July 10-11, 2026, documenting the reported damage along with damage to farm machinery. Damage assessed as preliminary EF2 tornado, with an estimated max. wind speed of 215 km/h, track length of 9.23 km and max. path width of 570 m. Tornado motion was from the NW (approx. 305 degrees). Start time is radar estimated. Further investigation pending, including further review of survey observations and satellite imagery review.

Description: Witnesses captured video and photos of a tornado that developed near Dillberry Lake Provincial Park (southeast of Chauvin, AB) and tracked eastward to Long Lake, SK. Damage to trees, camping trailers and vehicles and a wellhouse was reported. Five injuries were reported. An NTP ground and drone survey was completed on July 9-10, 2026, documenting the reported damage. Damage assessed as an EF2 tornado, with an estimated max. wind speed of 190 km/h, track length of 13.8 km and max. path width of 640 m. Tornado motion was from the W (approx. 275 degrees). Start time is based on witness report. Satellite imagery review is pending.
