SSHRC Catalyst Grants
Jointly supported by the office of the Vice-President (Research) and the researcher's faculty, the SSHRC Catalyst Grant is targeted to support researchers who intend to apply to a future Insight, Insight Development, Partnership, or Partnership Development grant. The purpose of this funding is to catalyze initiatives and support early-stage pilot research, network development and other activities expected to increase the likelihood of success in subsequent external grant competitions.
Award Value: Maximum $20,000
The award value is a maximum of $20,000 for one year, with 50% ($10,000) supported by the Office of the Vice-President (Research) and matched 1:1 by the applicant’s faculty or partners.
Eligibility
Applicants must hold a research-eligible academic appointment at Western University. See Guidelines for full details.

Process
- Internal program applications must be accompanied by a completed ROLA Proposal, reviewed and approved by Department Chair and Faculty Dean.
- Program applications must be received by the Western Research Internal Grants online submission portal before the posted deadline.
Final Reports
Within three months of the termination of the award, awardees must complete a final report. Final reports are submitted using the online form.
