Supplemental Employment Insurance Benefits (SEIB) - a “top up” to EI. If eligible for Employment Insurance (EI), Clinical Faculty Members are eligible to receive 100% of their Western salary at the time their leave begins for the initial two-week waiting period before EI begins. When EI begins, SEIB payments will be the difference between EI receivable and 95% of the Western salary for the remaining 22 weeks.
Please note that SEIB payments will not actually be made until proof of EI is received by Western Human Resources, but upon receipt of proof payments will be made retroactively for the period beginning at the time leave begins.
Clinical Faculty members may also be eligible for benefits from the Ontario Medical Association, but in general, cannot receive benefits from two organizations at the same time.
Clinical Faculty members at Western University planning to take a Pregnancy/Parental Adoption Leave should contact the Human Resources Communication Centre and request to speak with a Benefits Consultant.
