Dr. Catherine Ward-GriffinDr. Ward-Griffin is a Professor in the Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Western Ontario and a Scientist of the Health Outcomes & Health Services Group at Lawson Health Research Institute, London, Ontario. Using primarily a critical lens, she has designed and implemented studies that investigate the provision and interface of “formal” and “informal” care to older adults in a variety of settings and contexts. Dr. Ward-Griffin is particularly interested in understanding how the social determinants of health, such as gender and class relations, intersect and shape the caregiving experiences of women and men as they age. The results of these studies have relevance for researchers and practitioners in gerontology, health promotion and nursing, as well as those interested in the identification and development of equitable health care practices and policies that will promote the health of frail older persons and their families.
