2022 Recreational Sport Clubs Announcement
Western Campus Recreation Recreational Sport Clubs provide opportunities for students to participate in recreational sports or activities. Each Club offers student leadership opportunities and some provide instruction, skill development, and/or competition. Our Program allows students to enhance their Western University experience and promote life-long learning and appreciation for physical activity, leadership, and service.
We have a total of 18 Recreational Sport Clubs as part of our Campus Recreation programming, in the Sports & Recreation area; each of which is offering something unique on campus for students to be able to pursue their passion, or even find a new one.
This year, we are very excited to welcome two new Clubs to our program: the Artistic Swimming Club and the Women's Football Club. After a rigorous application process, and some hard-working summer months, these two Clubs are ready to roll out the carpet and begin their recreational career with the Recreation Sport Clubs Program in Western Campus Recreation.
The Artistic Swimming Club welcomes any and all Western students no matter the skill level to try the sport. The Women's Football Club welcomes all female-identifying students to join the Club no matter if they've ever played before or not. Both of these Clubs have competitive opportunities but remain recreational in nature, meaning students can join the Club by paying membership fees which allows them to participate in Club activities such as practices, social events, training, and potential in-house events like exhibition water shows/intersquad games. We know these Clubs will do an amazing job creating opportunities for students to enhance their Western experience, while engaging in active well-being.
Membership in Recreational Sport Clubs is open to Western students enrolled in the current academic year, who have a valid annual Campus Recreation membership. Membership runs from Sept to April inclusively.
We invite all Western students to come to our Clubs Week, September 12-16 from 2:00-6:00 PM (each day) on Concrete Beach, routside the UCC. All of our Sport Clubs will be featured and available for questions. Club registration will be available online at shop.westernmustangs.ca starting on Monday, September 12th, 2022.
