What is the SPINA Spinal Rehabilitation Registry?
SPINA is the first international registry (or database) focused to rehabilitation for musculoskeletal spinal problems, which are problems of the neck, mid back, or lower back. SPINA enables cutting-edge international research aiming to improve patient care and outcomes for musculoskeletal spinal problems by understanding and developing personalized treatments.
Patients experiencing musculoskeletal spinal problems and physiotherapists contribute information to SPINA, accelerating innovative solutions to one of the world's leading health problems.
SPINA follows an ethic of data democracy, where patients and physiotherapists co-own the information they contribute to SPINA.
Who is leading SPINA?
SPINA was developed by a team of CANSpine researchers, patient partners and physiotherapists in Canada and the UK. The lead SPINA researcher is Dr Alison Rushton, Co-Director CANSpine, Director and Professor School of Physical Therapy at Western University.
SPINA is led from Western University in London Canada, with international clinical research sites in London UK and Sydney Australia. The lead for SPINA in the UK and Australia is Dr Tim Noblet, a CANSpine Adjunct Research Professor and Consultant Physiotherapist at St George's NHS Trust in London UK.
