Honours Specialization in Nutrition & Dietetics

The Honours Specialization in Nutrition & Dietetics is a professional program, within the Bachelor of Science Foods and Nutrition (BScFN) degree.

The program is accredited by the Partnership for Dietetic Education and Practice (PDEP), and prepares graduates for application to a dietetic practicum program that leads to registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) by the professional regulating body, the College of Dietitians of Ontario (CDO). This module supports the attainment of the Integrated Competencies for Dietetic Education and Practice (ICDEP) at the undergraduate level as required by PDEP. Completion of the Honours Specialization in Nutrition & Dietetics does not guarantee admission to a dietetic practicum program. Enrolment in this module is limited. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee that students wishing to transfer into this module will be offered enrolment.

Graduates may also pursue post-graduate study in areas such as nutritional sciences, health administration, food science, food safety, or public health. Students are encouraged to seek academic advising early in the program, especially if they intend to combine the Honours Specialization with a Major or Minor in a complementary field.
