The Centre for Animals on the Move (CAM) hosts a number of informal and formal events a year. Throughout the academic year, our lecture series - Movement Mondays - brings world-leading experts to Western (in-person or virtually) to share their work. Movement Mondays is also our informal meeting for trainees and faculty members to meet to discuss the field more general as well as workshop ideas, brainstorm interdisciplinary collaborations, and learn new skills.

Image Classification Workshop
Dr. Alex Filazzola from ApexRMS Consulting (and an adjunct prof in Biology) is offering a free in-person workshop on image classification on November 17th, 2025 from 10:00am – 1:00 pm EST in Collip 112. This will be an interactive workshop that introduces image classification concepts and workflows for biological applications, using the ecoClassify package for SyncroSim. SyncroSim (https://syncrosim.com/) is an open-science platform for bundling and managing complex models and analysis tools; with packages co-developed by governments and academics, it gives researchers access to trusted, well-documented tools for analysis and modelling.

Coding Cafe
A weekly, informal meet-up to discuss all things coding. Whether you are new to performing data analysis in R, or learning how to process that next big dataset, this is a time to set-aside your others things and dig deep into your data and code!
