The Mayor of Nafplion and President of the Organizing Committee, Dimitris Kostouros, on the occasion of the 2nd Marathon Run at Nafplion, is pleased to invite you on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. GMT to a lecture by Charles Stocking and Demosthenes Tampakos:

"Beyond the Body: A Brief History of the Marathon, Ancient and Modern"

 

*The first part of the lecture will be delivered in English, with simultaneous translation in Greek.

The event will be held in the "Nikos Mazarakis Family" Lecture Hall at Harvard University’s Center for Hellenic Studies.

The event is co-organized by the Center for Hellenic Studies in Greece, Harvard University, the Municipality of Nafplion, and the Municipal Organization for Culture, Environment, Sports, and Tourism (Greek acronym: DOPPAT).

Charles Stocking is Assistant Professor of Classics at the University of Western Ontario, Canada and a former Fellow of the Center for Hellenic Studies.

Demosthenes Tampakos is Olympic gold medalist and Professor of Physical Education.
