Huron College Construction Update
Nov. 25, 2019
Crane work continues on Huron's campus resulting in a closure of the Western Road pedestrian tunnel. The tunnel will close in the early morning of November 26 and is expected to reopen later in the day. The weather may delay the work and push the closure to November 27.
November 25: Service interruption notice and site map issued for tunnel closure.
Nov. 21, 2019
The following update was issued by the Facilities Management Division of Huron College:
Notice of Change - November 21 and 22 will be exciting days for the New Academic Building project as a large truss and other structural steel will be rigged into position which is part of the cantilever section of the building where the new theatre will be located.
To ensure safety is the #1 priority on campus, the pedestrian tunnel joining Huron and Western’s campuses will be closed as steel will be lifted over the walkways.
Signage will be posted to direct pedestrian traffic to the sidewalks on the west side of Western Rd. where you will need to use the cross walk to gain access to the east side of Western Rd.
Timing:
· Nov 21 Mid Morning - temporary blockades and signage will be in place to redirect pedestrian traffic
· Nov 22 Evening – overhead work should be completed and the access will go back to normal
We appreciate your patience during this exciting part of our construction. We will ensure the interruption is minimized while ensuring your Safety is our #1 priority on campus.
