The “OAPPA 2025 Conference: Igniting Our Impact” focuses on the vital roles facilities professionals play in the ever-changing landscape of post-secondary academic and research-intensive institutions.

Keynote speaker: Mark Daley

Mark Daley is the Chief AI Officer at Western University and a Professor in the Department of Computer Science, holding cross-appointments in five other departments, as well as the Rotman Institute of Philosophy and the Western Institute for Neuroscience. A leading figure in artificial intelligence, he is also a faculty affiliate of Toronto’s prestigious Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence.

Recognized among Canada’s most influential minds, Mark was named to Maclean’s magazine’s "Power List 2024" of the top 100 Canadians shaping the nation. His impact extends beyond Western, having previously served as Vice-President (Research) at the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR), as well as Chief Digital Information Officer, Special Advisor to the President, and Associate Vice-President (Research) at Western.

A thought leader in AI and digital research, Mark is the past chair of Compute Ontario and actively contributes to several high-profile boards, helping to shape the future of technology and innovation.
