Teams drop in when the room is available to play each other in a quick match of trivia to earn points for their school
Schools play only against each other this year. A competition-based schedule against other schools will be considered for future years
A minimum of two players to a maximum of 10 players per match per school team
School teams divide into two smaller teams to face off in a friendly battleEach smaller team gets one opportunity to answer a question for a total of two guesses per school team
The points for both smaller teams are added together and will count toward the school team’s total
Each match will consist of 20 questions
Teams can stay to complete multiple matches if there is no lineup at the time
Each school team can play in up to five matches (time-permitting). A minimum of two matches is required. Average scores of your best two matches (one match with questions from grades 9-10 only, one match with questions from grades 9-12 only) will be used
There will also be a tiebreaking question that is timed (after a team’s first match with a grade 9-12 question pack)
Questions
All questions will be based on the Ontario secondary science curriculum which includes some math-based questions
Some matches will include only material from grades 9 and 10. Teams can choose to complete such a question pack if the players dropping in are mostly (or all) grade 9 and 10 students. However, grade 11 and 12 students are also welcome to compete in these matches
Other matches will include questions on materials from grades 9-12. Schools can send a team of students composed of any combination of junior and senior students for these matches
