Maryam Mofrad

Maryam MofradMaryam Mofrad is a postdoctoral scholar at Western's Academy for Advanced Research. Her research interests include computational neuroscience, mathematical modeling and optimization, data analytics, and machine learning.

She received her PhD in operations research from the University of Pittsburgh with a focus on decision making under uncertainty and its application in medical decision making. Prior to joining computational neuroscience, she worked as a quantitative modeler and data scientist in the financial sector. Since starting her postdoctoral position in computational neuroscience, she has been focusing on data-driven computational research in both systems and clinical neuroscience. Her current research ranges from developing sleep spindle detection algorithms, to performing spatial and temporal analysis, to identify underlying mechanisms of cognitive processes such as memory to understanding the network-level mechanisms underlying epileptiform dynamics.
