Michal Cizek
Michal Cizek is a recent PhD graduate of Western University's Department of Mathematics. He completed his thesis, Automorphism-preseving color substitution on profinite graphs, under the supervision of Dr. Ján Mináč. His scientific interests are in: Profinite graphs, Profinite Groups and Graph Theory. In his thesis, he proved a conjecture of Karl Hoffmann and Sidney Morris about the representation of profinite groups as autohomeomorphisms of compact spaces. Dr. Luis Ribes, a well known expert in this area of research, acknowledged his work as a significant contribution to this theory.
Michal received a MITACS research training award for his work with Dr. Lyle Muller programming simulations on Covid-19 networks. He enjoyed collaborating with his students and had the opportunity to teach them various concepts from pure mathematics, while learning from them as well. He will continue to do so as a Postdoctoral Scholar with the Western Academy. He looks forward to collaborative research with Dr. Mináč, Dr. Muller, and a great, enthusiastic team.
