CAD/CAM Systems
University Machine Services (UMS) is an ancillary service located in the Thompson Engineering Building at Western University. Our goal is to provide assistance in instruction, research, and industry through the design and manufacture of specialized components and equipment.
- Design Faster and Smarter with the Power of SOLIDWORKS
- SOLIDWORKS® solutions can help boost productivity, harness intelligence, foster innovation, and facilitate collaboration. Through tight integration, SOLIDWORKS tools enable you to leverage 3D models throughout the organization, bringing processes together so you can get products to market faster.
- By providing best-in-class, tightly integrated tools for every area of product development and management, SOLIDWORKS enables enterprises to speed each stage of the development cycle by allowing all disciplines to work concurrently, starting with concepts all the way through to manufacturing.
- Powerful design functionality and ease of use
- Process-driven solutions keep focus on big picture
- Easy-to-deploy data management facilitates collaboration
- Virtual prototyping drives innovation, improves quality
- Integrated design-to-manufacturing gets products built faster
AutoCAD® is computer-aided design (CAD) software that architects, engineers, and construction professionals rely on to create precise 2D and 3D drawings.
- Draft, annotate, and design 2D geometry and 3D models with solids, surfaces, and mesh objects
- Automate tasks such as comparing drawings, addings blocks, creating schedules, and more
- Customize with add-on apps and APIs
AutoCAD now includes industry-specific features and intelligent objects for architecture, mechanical engineering, electrical design, and more.
- Automate floor plans, sections, and elevations
Draw piping, ducting, and circuiting quickly with parts libraries - Auto-generate annotations, layers, schedules, lists, and tables
- Use a rules-driven workflow to accurately enforce industry standards
Design and generate CAM toolpaths without the hassle of changing software. Reduce cycle time and rework with CAD-embedded 2.5- to 5-axis milling, turning, and mill-turn capabilities. HSMWorks is included with your Fusion 360 subscription.
From high-efficiency roughing with Adaptive Clearing to simplified control of multi-axis machines with Tool Orientation, Fusion 360 makes it easy to program your CNC machine, fast.
Manufacture with 2.5, 3, 4, and 5-axis milling, probing, turning, mill-turning, and profiling operations paired with a powerful post engine all included alongside professional design tools.
