Welding Equipment

University Machine Services (UMS) is an ancillary service located in the Thompson Engineering Building at Western University. Our goal is to provide assistance in instruction, research, and industry through the design and manufacture of specialized components and equipment.

Machine

Miller 250amp mig welder

Highest output in its class (250 A at 28 VDC). Weld longer on high-end applications. Infinite voltage control with self-calibrating digital meters that permit presetting of voltage and wire feed speed. Ensures precise parameters and accuracy. Integrated digital timers come complete with presettable preflow/ postflow, burnback, spot and delay (stitch) timers. Independent timers for MIG and spool gun. Line voltage compensation keeps power constant even if power input varies by ±10 percent. Active Arc Stabilizer™ minimizes weld cleanup, and provides excellent starts proven superior to the competition. Auto Gun Detect™ allows operator to simply pull trigger on MIG gun, spool gun or push/pull gun. Automatically detects and recalls the voltage, wire feed speed and timer of the active gun. See page 3 for more information. Heavy-duty aluminum two-drive-roll system. Fan-On-Demand™ cooling system only operates when needed, reducing noise, energy use and the amount of contaminants pulled though the machine.

Machine

Miller Syncro-wave 350 LX tig/stick welder

AC balance control provides adjustable oxide removal which is essential for creating the highest quality aluminum welds. Syncro Start™ allows the choice of Soft, Medium or Hot TIG starts based on the tungsten size and application. Digital welding meters display both amperage and voltage for viewing of the actual and preset values for greater accuracy and repeatability in your welding procedure. High frequency for non-contact arc initiation that reduces tungsten and material contamination. Last procedure recall simplifies changing your Syncrowave back and forth from aluminum TIG to stainless TIG to Stick welding. One switch makes all the control panel changes.

Machine

Miller SuitCase® 12RC, BTB 300A

Ergonomically sound, lightweight, modular design is well balanced, and allows improved mobility and ease of carrying to remote welding sites.

Totally enclosed, impactresistant, flame-retardant case provides strength and durability, and protects components and welding wire from moisture, dust and other contaminants.

Drive roll accessibility makes it easy to install wire, adjust tension and change drive rolls.
