Campus Development Strategy
The Campus Development Strategy finds its roots in Western’s strategic plan, Towards Western at 150, which calls for strategic growth. Planning for that growth, in direct service of our teaching and research missions, brings even greater responsibility as we seek to create the best opportunities and experiences for our students, faculty and staff while continuing to carefully steward the campus land, our increasingly complex infrastructure, and the natural environment around us.
The Campus Development Strategy is about balancing growth with stewardship: documenting past and future projects, optimizing development and functional locations for academic, research and ancillary sites, coordinating open space and mobility principles, and leveraging the West Campus lands (the former Brescia lands) for long-term opportunities. It will position Western to grow responsibly in the future while ensuring sustainability, inclusivity, and a pedestrian priority core campus, ensuring alignment with current strategic priorities.
