Entering the new academic year at Western in September presents many exciting opportunities that I strongly encourage every student to explore. For any major, there is something to try out and be a part of; finding a community that shares your hobbies and interests is so important when starting a new chapter, such as university. As the 2025-26 academic year gets underway, I wanted to share 5 clubs that will appeal to different interests and academic goals. From medicine to law to business to health & wellness, there is a community of people for every student.
1. Pre-Business Student Network (PBSN)
If you are a first-year starting BMOS at Western, an Ivey AEO student in the Ivey HBA program, or just have a specific interest in business, you should check out the Pre-Business Student Network. The Pre-Business Student Network, or PBSN, is the largest general business club on campus, working towards strengthening the experience for undergraduate students through initiatives such as workshops, competitions, and networking sessions. They target all business areas, such as consulting, finance, accounting, entrepreneurship, and business information technologies. This club is a great way to get involved and learn about the different aspects of business, especially if you are unsure which areas you’re interested in.
2. Western Public Health Association (WPHA)
The Western Public Health Association, or WPHA, is a club that aims to fight the stigma surrounding the field of public health as one with health/medical sciences. If you are a student studying public health, nursing, or social work, or are just interested in going into public health, this club is a great option to stay informed and involved. WPHA seeks to organize opportunities and resources for undergraduate students, providing mentorship, networking, and writing opportunities. WPHA is a great way to be a part of a community of students with similar passions and goals, to educate and increase student voices on public health issues, and to learn about career options in public health. To learn more about WPHA, you can always contact them through email, publichealth.club@westernusc.ca, or their social media, @western.wpha.
3. Purple Yogis
Purple Yogis is Western’s first and only on-campus yoga club, dedicated to promoting wellness and helping students stay healthy, active, and balanced throughout the school year. The Purple Yogis is a community space for beginners and pros alike to connect through yoga and wellness while improving their members' physical, mental, and spiritual health. Their classes are led by qualified yoga teachers from the London community and are offered both in person and online, designed to support all skill levels. Purple Yogis strives to make yoga more accessible, affordable, and enjoyable while fostering a supportive environment for students of all backgrounds, cultures, and experience levels. To learn more about Purple Yogis, you can connect with them through their Instagram, @purple_yogis; or email, purpleyogis.club@westernusc.ca.
4. Women in Justice, Law & Ethics
Women in Justice, Law & Ethics (WJLE) is a student-led initiative at Western University dedicated to supporting women and non-binary students interested in careers related to justice, law, and ethics. WJLE is seeking ratification in the coming fall. They are looking for members who are driven and passionate, whether you’re drawn to law, public policy, human resources, ethics, advocacy, or any field that promotes justice. WJLE offers mentorship, networking opportunities, and resources that help students explore career pathways. Through events, workshops, and professional engagement, WJLE strives to build an inclusive and supportive community, looking to expand with mixers, guest speaker panels, and collaborations with other campus groups. These initiatives aim to provide members with practical skills, connections, and a strong foundation for academic success. To learn more and connect with WJLE, you can visit them through their Linktree, WJLELinkTree, or their social media, @wjlewestern.
5. Pre-medical Society
The UWO Pre-Medical Society is a student-run club committed to supporting and helping students who are interested in pursuing a career in medicine. Through a mix of different academic programs, social events, and local and international volunteer opportunities, the Pre-Medical Society helps members explore different areas of the medical field. This club provides resources on preparing for and applying to medical school, including info sessions covering medical schools across Ontario, Canada, and North America. Members can also gain access to MCAT guidance, interview prep, and insider advice from current students at Western’s Schulich School of Medicine. In addition, the club offers discounts on MCAT prep courses and supports your journey, whether you are just starting to explore medicine or actively preparing your application.
As the school year gets underway, it is important to remember that university is more than just class and academics; it is about finding community, building lasting connections, and exploring new passions and hobbies. Joining a club at Western is a great way to shape your experience in meaningful ways; everyone should be encouraged to take that first step, try something new, and find a space where they feel supported and inspired. To learn more about these clubs and every other club that Western has to offer, check out the clubs' page on WesternLink or Western USC webpage. There are over 200+ clubs on campus, so there is something for everyone!
