Seyed Ziaedin Miry

Dr. Seyed Ziaedin ("Zia") Miry earned his Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tehran in 2014, where he conducted research on enhancing the thermal performance of miniature heat sinks through the utilization of nanofluids. Subsequently, he pursued his Doctoral degree under the supervision of Professor Jason Gerhard in the Civil and Environmental Engineering department at Western University. His doctoral research primarily delved into multidimensional numerical modeling of smouldering combustion within the context of soil remediation.

As a Postdoctoral Scholar with the "nature-inspired solutions for carbon transformation" team, Dr. Miry investigates the thermal process (pyrolysis) involved in converting waste into biochar, a material that is regarded as an emerging tool for mitigating the effects of climate change.
