Liangfu Ge

Liangfu Ge's research is centered on the application of computer vision and artificial intelligence technologies in smart structures.  Since completing his PhD at Tongji University (Shanghai, China), Dr. Ge has served as a Postdoctoral Fellow with Dr. Ayan Sadhu at Western University's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Dr. Ge has developed a novel bridge health monitoring framework, integrating traffic load and structural response observations. He is dedicated to the study of domain adaptation methods to enhance knowledge transfer between similar structures, thereby reducing the costs of practical health monitoring systems. Dr. Ge's research also focuses on automated structural visual inspection systems. This includes the application of underwater unmanned vehicles for the automated identification and quantification of infrastructure scouring and spalling, as well as the use of ground-based unmanned vehicles and vision systems for post-disaster structural mapping and damage assessment.

Within the WAFAR project, Dr. Ge is spearheading the development of a mobile monitoring platform to capture and analyze urban road and environmental conditions, marking a significant advancement in urban infrastructure health assessment and management.
