Introduction to R Workshop

Introduction to R is a three-hour workshop introducing basic programming concepts in R and learning to execute data manipulations, calculations, statistical analyses, and produce useful graphs and numeric summaries.  Participants will also learn to write simple functions that can be used to automate analyses and examine the use of R packages to expand R’s basic capabilities.

No prior programming knowledge is necessary.  The workshop is hands-on and participants will follow along with all of the coding.  Participants will need to have R, then RStudio installed on their own computers.  R is the programming language itself and must be installed first (https://cran.r-project.org/). RStudio Desktop provides a more friendly programming environment and is used in conjunction with R (https://posit.co/download/rstudio-desktop/).

Intermediate R Workshop

Intermediate R is a three-hour workshop where we will work through example analyses from start to finish. This includes preparing and cleaning data, plotting, modelling (t-tests, linear models, logistic regression, etc.), and presentation. As we go, we will discuss the way R handles different symbols, syntax, functions, and arguments. Understanding these concepts will allow the user to expand their usage of R more quickly and extend their knowledge to new situations. We will also stress the importance of good coding habits, effective use of graphical methods, and using help files. Participants will follow along with all of the coding and leave the workshop with a file that can be easily modified to fit many different situations.

This workshop is suitable for people with a basic understanding of R (basic use of data frames, vectors, lists, etc). Attending the Introduction to R Workshop is sufficient to prepare you for this one. Participants will need to have both R and RStudio are installed on their own computers.  R is the programming language itself and must be installed first (https://cran.r-project.org/). RStudio Desktop provides a more friendly programming environment and is used in conjunction with R (https://posit.co/download/rstudio-desktop/).

Introduction to Python Workshop

We're excited to invite you to a three-hour Introduction to Python workshop that's tailored to beginners. This workshop is your gateway to the world of programming, where you'll learn the fundamentals of Python, one of the most popular and powerful languages used in various domains, including data science, machine learning, web development, and more.

In this hands-on workshop, you'll get your feet wet with Python basics, such as variables, data types, control structures, functions, and data structures. We'll also dive into essential Python libraries such as math, random, datetime, numpy, and pandas. By the end of the workshop, you'll have written and run your own Python scripts, loaded data with your local CSV files, and manipulated data in pandas DataFrames. If you're looking to kickstart your Python journey, this workshop is the perfect starting point. Don't miss out on this opportunity to enhance your technical skillset and step into the world of Python programming!

Intermediate Python Workshop

Join us for a three-hour intermediate Python workshop that will guide you through Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA), data cleaning, and implementing traditional statistical models such as ANOVA and T-Test. In addition, we'll introduce you to the basics of Machine Learning with Python, offering a hands-on experience that will deepen your understanding of these powerful techniques.

This workshop goes beyond theory, allowing you to work with real-world data and apply Python to uncover hidden patterns and actionable insights. Learn how to handle outliers, missing values, and conduct statistical tests like paired t-test, ANOVA, and chi-square test to draw robust conclusions from your data. You'll also have the opportunity to learn about methods like Logistic Regression, Random Forest, and Gradient Boosting to tackle complex problems. This workshop is perfect for anyone interested in data science, whether you're an aspiring data scientist, a researcher looking to explore your dataset, or a student eager to apply Python to your projects. Don't miss this chance to enhance your Python skills and advance your data science journey!
