Indoor Skating and Jogging - Reservations Required

Western Student Skating

Requirements: Skaters must wear a mask (Middlesex Health Unit has mandated a mask must be worn at all times while indoors in our facilities, including while working out) and a CSA (Canadian Standards Association) approved helmet while skating on the ice. Skating will be limited to 8 skaters per time slot/reservation to allow for physical distancing. While masks or face coverings are not required while on the ice, they must be worn throughout the building. Dressing rooms will not be available and skaters are to arrive dressed to skate. Use of the player benches are restricted to the skaters only – while maintaining physical distancing.

***Each participant registered for a student skating session is required to complete the (Western Student COVID-19 Questionnaire). Please have the confirmation ready on your phone prior to entering the facility. A staff member will ask you to show proof that you have completed the questionnaire.

Registration Fee: No charge for student skating.

Registration Information: Reservations are limited to Western Students. Participants must have a Winter 2021 active Western Student Membership in order to participate. Reservations are available 2 days prior to the skating time slot. Registration opens at 8am Saturday, February 20, 2021 online at shop.westernmustangs.ca

Location: Thompson Recreation & Athletic Centre. Students will enter through the front doors of the Western Student Recreation Centre (WSRC). Skating Schedule: Begins: Monday, February 22, 2021 Ends: Thursday, April 8, 2021 No skating on: Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays Please note that the building will be closed for all statutory holidays. Monday: 12:00pm – 1:00pm Tuesday: 12:00pm – 1:00pm Wednesday: 12:00pm – 1:00pm & 1:15pm – 2:15pm Thursday: 12:00pm – 1:00pm

Reminder: 1) No hockey sticks/pucks 2) No strollers, chairs, cones 3) No figure skating (i.e. jumps, etc.) 4) No speed skating 5) Everyone must wear CSA (Canadian Standards Association) approved helmets 6) No one on the ice until Olympia has finished re-surfacing


Western Student Jogging

Requirements: Joggers must wear a mask (Middlesex Health Unit has mandated a mask must be worn at all times while indoors in our facilities, including while working out) at all times while in the facility. Jogging will be limited to 8 joggers per time slot/reservation to allow for physical distancing. While masks or face coverings are not required while on the indoor track, they must be worn throughout the buildings. Dressing rooms will not be open and joggers are to arrive dressed to jog.

Reminder: 1) No ball throwing 2) No inline skates 3) No spikes/cleats 4) No strollers, chairs, cones 5) Running direction: even days - clock wise; odd days - counter clock wise 6) No running of the stairs in the seating area of the arena
