Norman Borlaug Award for Field Research and Application

Recognizing science-based achievement in agriculture or food production by an individual under 40 who has demonstrated intellectual courage, stamina, and drive in the fight to eliminate global hunger and poverty.

The award will honor an individual who is working closely and directly “in the field” or at the production or processing level with farmers, animal herders, fishers or others in rural communities, in any discipline or enterprise across the entire food production, processing, and distribution chain

Nomination Process

Any individual or organization with a direct knowledge of the nominee’s work can nominate. Self-nominations are not accepted. 

A complete nomination involves only completion of the online form, which includes:

  • A statement of work (3000 words) outlining the nominee’s accomplishments, with details and examples illustrating embodiment of the award criteria and the impact/results of the nominee’s work
  • A CV with education, professional background, and date and country of birth
  • One nomination letter and two support letters describing and emphasizing nominee achievements and their alignment with award criteria
  • Nominee's headshot (minimum 300 dpi resolution)
