Wiley Prize in Biomedical Sciences

The Wiley Prize in Biomedical Sciences is a $35,000 prize recognizing breakthrough research in pure or applied life sciences and seeking to honour research that is distinguished by its excellence, originality, and impact on the understanding of biological systems and processes. The prize is given for a specific contribution or series of contributions that demonstrate significant leadership in the development of research concepts or their clinical application. Particular emphasis is placed on research that champions novel approaches and challenges accepted thinking in the biomedical sciences. Past prize winners’ research has been in areas as diverse as genetics, cell motility, folded proteins, and siRNA. Some have gone on to win Nobel and Lasker Prizes.

Nomination Process

A complete nomination package consists of submission, by post or email, of the following:

  • An introductory letter (including the name and institutional affiliation of the nominator, their relation to the nominee, and the name and institutional affiliation of the nominee) consisting of a short summary (max. 150 words) describing the significance of the nominee’s work in its field;
  • At least three supporting letters from colleagues familiar with the nominee's work;
  • The nominee’s CV.

The final submission deadline for this award is September 30, 2017.
