Who Can Access Training
This page describes who can access safety training on OWL or on My Human Resources based on their role at Western. For information on how to link to safety courses on OWL, please refer to the specific course at "Required Training". For information on how to register for a training course on My Human Resources, please refer to "Register for a Training Course."
To access safety training courses, you must first have a record set up on My Human Resources for one or more of the following roles:.
- Staff (includes part-time, full-time and student-related work e.g. work study and summer students)
- Associated Persons (e.g. visiting researchers, visiting students, volunteers [student and non-student])
- Graduate Students
- Select Undergraduate Students enrolled in specific courses or programs which requiresafety training.
Please refer to the following chart to find out when your HR record will be added to My Human Resources based on your role at Western. The chart also provides details on your User ID and Password needed to log in to OWL or My Human Resources.

Your information will be established on or shortly after your start date provided that the appropriate appointment paperwork has been submitted or processed online.
|You will receive a letter* sent via the Western Directory Coordinator for your department/unit, containing your Western User ID and password.

*You may not receive a letter if you are set up with your student number. See diagram below.
|Student volunteers who participate in programs coordinated through the Student Success Center, the Student Development Centre and Western Foot Patrol.

|Your information will be established a few days after your volunteer contract or registration has been submitted.||The User ID and password you use will depend on whether you have ever had an employment relationship with Western. See diagram below.|
|All Graduate students who do not have an employment relationship with Western.||
Your information will be established at the start of each term provided that you are term activated on the student system.
Course Coordinators should contact Holly Scanlon to request addition of a specific undergraduate course.

|Undergraduate student who require specific safety training due to course or program requirements such as Independent Study (4th year thesis courses) and clinical placements.|
|Foreign academic visitors, visiting research only undergraduate students and volunteers who have an affiliation with Western but are not employees. These individuals are administered as Associated Persons. For more information, contact your department Administrative Officer.||When you are officially registered as an Associated Person, ITS will automatically establish a User ID and password. Visiting students and student volunteers may be assigned their Student Center User ID and password.||

If you have NOT previously been set up on My Human Resources (as an employee, an Associated Person or for special payments) use your same User ID and password assigned for the Student Center.
If you HAVE previously been set up on My Human Resources you will need to use your Western User ID assigned for My Human Resources.
