All transfer students with enough transfer credits to be admitted into years 2-3 are admitted this way.  The Admissions Office will not put you into a specific program at Western. You will need to stay as “undeclared” until you complete the requirements to enter the module you are interested in. Please see the Academic Calendar for information on what is required to enter a module. 

All students who have completed an undergraduate degree are admitted this way. Once at Western you have 3 options open to you:

1. Stay as a Special Student and take courses at Western not working toward a degree or module.
2. Work toward completing a Post Degree Module. You may need to stay as a Special Student until you have completed the requirements to enter the module you are interested in. Information on what is required to complete a Post Degree Module can be found at the bottom of the Degree Structure page in the Academic Calendar.
3. Work toward completing a second degree. You may need to stay as a Special Student until you have completed the requirements to enter the degree/module you are interested in. Information on what is required to complete a second degree can be found at the bottom of the Degree Structure page in the Academic Calendar.

There are 2 pathways into Year 3 of the BMSc program: assured admission from Medical Sciences first-entry and admission from the competitive pool. If you have received enough transfer credits to put you into years 2-3 or you are a Special Student, you cannot enter the Medical Sciences first-entry pathway. Instead, once you have completed the requirements to enter year 3 of the module you are interested in, you will apply to the BMSc program through the competitive pool. Please see the pathways below.
