BSc Modules
The Department of Chemistry offers the following BSc modules. Completing any of them fulfills the requirements to apply for medical school. If you have questions or need assistance, visit the Chemistry Advising Help Portal
Transfers from Other Modules (e.g., BMSc): If you have a mark of at least 60% in Chemistry 2213A/B, this course will be credited as Chemistry 2273A. In the remainder of Year 2, take all the 2000-level Chemistry courses for which you have the prerequisites, then catch up in Years 3 and 4.
SPECIALIZATION IN CHEMISTRY (10.0 courses): An accredited BSc program with options to specialize in synthetic chemistry, materials research, analytical techniques, or theory and computation. Includes an independent research project. Leads to careers in chemical technology, industrial R&D, academia, clinical research, laboratory management, healthcare consulting, pharmaceutical industry, and other occupations where a science background is advantageous.
HONOURS SPECIALIZATION IN CHEMISTRY (10.0 courses): Same as above but admission requires a first-year average of at least 70%.
HONOURS SPECIALIZATION IN BIOCHEMISTRY AND CHEMISTRY (11.0 courses): Offered jointly with the Department of Biochemistry. Includes an independent research project in Chemistry or Biochemistry. Leads to careers in biotechnology, industrial R&D, academia, clinical research, healthcare consulting, pharmaceutical industry, and other occupations where a science background is advantageous.
MAJOR IN CHEMISTRY (6.0 courses): Provides a foundation in all areas of Chemistry with an option to concentrate on a particular subfield.
MINOR IN CHEMISTRY (4.0 courses): Intended for students of Biology and Health Sciences, Biochemistry, Materials Science, and those looking for a second teachable subject in Teacher's College.
