2024 Chemistry Research Award of Excellence Awarded to Professor Yining Huang

Yining HuangThe Research Awards Committee is delighted to announce that Professor Yining Huang has been selected as the 2024 recipient of the Chemistry Research Award of Excellence.

Yining has demonstrated an exceptional research track record throughout his career, and especially in the past 5 years. Yining is a global expert on porous materials and especially the application of solid-state NMR (SSNMR) spectroscopy to elucidate structure-property relationships of both zeolites and MOFs. In the past 5 years, his group has produced 26 papers, including several in top-tier journals such as JACS, Angew. Chem. and Chem Cell Press. Yining has delivered many invited presentations, including at the Rocky Mountain Conference, the preeminent conference for SSNMR. Yining was recently selected for a Distinguished Guest Professorship at the University of Science and Technology in Beijing.

Professor Huang research is directed towards the investigations of various porous materials including zeolites, AlPO4 based molecular sieves, mesoporous materials and, more recently, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). These materials have many current and potential applications in industry as ion exchangers, molecular sieves, catalysts, sensors, CO2 capture/storage. Current efforts emphasize vibrational and, especially, solid-state NMR spectroscopy.
